Nonprofit CRM
A fundraising CRM built for early-stage nonprofits — crm.4pt0.org
Salesforce is overkill. Spreadsheets are chaos. And most tools in between were built for organizations that already have a development team, a grants manager, and a few years of fundraising under their belt.
For early-stage nonprofit founders, that gap is real. Fundraising is a skill you have to learn while you're doing it — and the tools that exist either assume you already know what you're doing or don't connect the dots that matter: who you talked to, what opportunity came from that conversation, and what needs to happen next to actually win the grant.

4.0 kept seeing this in their community. Founders were cobbling together spreadsheets, losing track of contacts, missing deadlines, and leaving educational opportunities on the table. Working as an embedded product builder on their team, we scoped and shipped a solution in 11 days.
What we built
The 4.0 Nonprofit CRM is a purpose-built fundraising tool for early-stage organizations — simple enough to actually use, connected enough to be genuinely useful.

The core of the product is five interconnected modules:
Contacts — the people and organizations in a founder's fundraising network, linked to every interaction and opportunity that flows through them.
Interactions — every coffee, call, email, and meeting logged in one place, tied to the contacts and grants they're connected to. Interactions are a leading metric to winning grants; the tool makes logging them frictionless.
Grants & Opportunities — when a user creates a new grant, the system automatically generates a set of tasks to help them work through it. No starting from scratch, no forgetting a step. The tool knows what winning a grant requires and builds the checklist for you.

Tasks — everything that needs to happen, connected to the grant or opportunity it belongs to.

Dashboard — a real-time view of where things stand across all of the above.

The product was also designed with a specific educational intent: it's not just a place to store data, it's a tool that quietly teaches users how fundraising actually works as they use it. The onboarding flow is built around three moments — add a contact, log an interaction, create a grant opportunity — because those three actions are what it takes to actually get going.
The design feedback said it all
Early testers told us: "oh, I might actually use that" and "the new design — it's gorgeous." That matters for a tool like this. If a CRM feels corporate or intimidating, early-stage founders won't use it. This one needed to feel like it was built for them, not adapted for them.
Built for the aha moment
The success metric we cared most about wasn't signups or logins. It was this: the first time a user marks a grant as won.
That's the moment the tool stops being software and starts being proof that staying organized actually works. Everything in the product was designed to get users to that moment faster.
